Last time we bragged about our low property taxes – this week it’s our practically non-existent crime rate. We like to think it’s the quality of the people. Mild climate, clean air, low annual precipitation, and world-class scenery are some of the other important reasons that St. George is one of America’s best places to live.

We will count the ways over the next weeks in an attempt to enumerate the natural, aesthetic, cultural, social and economic reasons why St. George is such a wonderful place to live. The list is extremely long so please be patient. The week’s reason, while not flashy, is close to many a heart - low property taxes. The County property tax rate is $550 per $100,000 for primary residence. Contrast that with Mesquite Nevada with a rate of $937 per $100,000 and you’ll have one more reason why St. George is such a satisfying town in which to retire.
