ROK DOKS CONCERT MAY 24TH 6:30PM-8:30PM AT THE VILLA AMPHITHEATER IN THE NEW SUNRIVER VILLAS COMMUNITY

The Rok Dox is a group of St. George area doctors who have been playing classic rock and roll together. The group initially got together at the insistence of the doctor’s wives to perform at an annual fundraiser for various community causes. Since then, they have played at most of the area venues including the Electric Theater, First Night, the Art’s Festival, the County Fair, Huntsman Senior Games and the St. George Marathon. They entertained the Olympic Torch Party at Stephen Wade Auto in February 2002 having to play for four hours as the torch was late. They started to write their own music and released their first CD, “Red Dirt,” in 2004. The group is composed of: Paul Doxey, M.D., an Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon (guitar), John Davis, M.D., a radiologist (percussion and vocals), Steve Coleman, EMT (bass guitar), Larry Staples, D.D.S., (key boards), Jason Ahee, M.D., an ophthalmologist (guitar) and John Miner, M.D., an anesthesiologist (lead vocals).

The Rok Dox repertoire of classic hits includes numbers from the Beatles, Santana, Steve Miller, Deep Purple, Dire Straits, Bachman-Turner, Led Zeplin, Steppenwolf, the Eagles, the Cars, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bon Jovi, Robert Palmer, the Doobie Brothers, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith and many other artists. The selections are generally upbeat and lively, the kind of music and makes people want to dance.
