Living History at Silver Reef Ghost Town

  • Silver Reef, Utah United States (map)

Join us on the fourth weekend of every month to experience life in one of Utah’s real 1870s silver-mining ghost towns. The Old West will come alive as you learn about the era from guides dressed in the authentic clothing of the period. Realistic shootouts by lawmen and the Muddy River Gang will take place on Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Informative lectures on Saturdays at 10 a.m. at the Cosmopolitan will teach you about the region and heritage of Silver Reef, Utah, the only place in the United States where silver was mined out of sandstone!

Artists also visit Silver Reef on the fourth weekend of every month, from individual artists and plain air events to nationally renowned sculptor Jerry Anderson’s private studio, which happens to be across the street! Anderson’s studio is open to the public every Friday, and Saturday of each fourth weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Also explore the original Wells Fargo Office Building, Silver Reef Museum, pioneer cemeteries and the site of FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp during the New Deal!

Admission to Silver Reef costs between $2 and $18/person, and will be open to the public the weekend of September 22. For more information, visit silverreefutah.org.
