A Little More Conversation: Four Conversational Clubs at SunRiver St. George
From hiking, biking and pickleball to pottery, card games and dance classes, there's truly something for everyone at SunRiver! But with so many clubs to join, it can sometimes be easy to miss some of the lesser-known clubs the community has to offer.
Plus, in a time of social distancing and uncertainty surrounding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it's also increasingly easy to feel particularly starved for socializing and conversation with friends. Below, we've rounded up a number of chatty clubs perfect for finding likeminded friends to start a dialogue with – in any language!
French Conversation Club
Guidelines: Participants meet every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon in the computer room. Please note, this is not a French class. Club leaders Michel, Helène and Isabelle are present as "facilitators."
In principle, the group chooses a topic of conversation for the following Monday. This allows participants, at varying levels of fluency in the French language, to work during the week on the appropriate vocabulary. For participants who wish to make progress, there is homework to be done from week to week.
Financial Conversations Club
The Financial Conversation group meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of the month in the card room. The conversations range from stocks to bonds to real estate and anything else related to investing in retirement. We discuss our successes and failures so others may learn from the experiences.
All are welcome to participate or just come to listen.
Just Me, Just Us
Just Me, Just Us is a group for singles, couples, partners without direct heirs. The group will share ideas, informations, discuss topics unique to those without children – developing contacts, establishing plans for emergencies, networking with others and more. For privacy: no name, informations are given on the website. Please come and meet club leaders Isabelle and Karen.
Conservative Group
The Conservative Group fosters discussions of current events and conservative values, ideas and issues. We also have outside visitors to keep us up to date with happenings in our community and the state. The next monthly meeting will take place Wednesday, July at 6:30 p.m. in Fitness Room 2.
