Festival Season in St. George
Spring has officially sprung in Southern Utah and there is an exciting event or festival to attend nearly every weekend of April. Below are a few recommendations for what active adults won’t want to miss:
Tour de St. George Spring ’17 – April 8
With 35-, 70- and 100-mile routes, the Tour de St. George is one of the year’s premier cycling events in Southern Utah. Kicking off the warmer weather brought on by the spring season, this year’s race will bring together 800 bicyclists from across the western U.S. to bike through the breathtaking scenery of St. George. The event is capped at 800 riders, so register ASAP to confirm your spot!
38th Annual St. George Arts Festival – April 14 – 15
For 37 years the St. George Arts Festival has been showcasing the work of the many local artists who call St. George their home. Set in historic Town Square, this year’s festival will feature thousands of original art pieces, two stages of live entertainment, dozens of food vendors and a children’s play area. Gathering of Southern Utah Magicians – April 26
In the mood for something completely different? Every first Tuesday and third Wednesday of the month, the Gathering of Southern Utah Magicians meets at the DiFiore Center for the Performing Arts on Main Street to share their experience and knowledge with magicians of every skill level. So, if you’ve ever tried your hand at amateur magic, come learn about storytelling, presentation, theatricality and putting on a show! Admission is free, but donations are accepted at the door. Kayenta Street Painting Festival – April 29 – 30
The beautiful streets of the Kayenta Art Village will once again be covered in art for the seventh year in a row. Both professional artists and students will use asphalt as a canvas to create large painted murals out of pastels or chalk. Thousands of spectators can experience this annual explosion of color and add to the festival themselves by each contributing a two-foot square drawing to a giant community mosaic. Admission is free.
