Monday Matinees by Precision Hearing
Every Monday in the month of August, local hearing center Precision Hearing will be sponsoring an afternoon matinee of a classic film from the 1960s at The Electric Theater. Located in the heart of historic downtown St. George at 68 E. Tabernacle St., the event is a fun way to spend an afternoon and take a walk down memory lane to a time before summer movies were full of superhero blockbusters, remakes and sequels. Doors open at 1 p.m. with the movie starting 30 minutes later, and the best part is that the weekly event is FREE to the public! Below is the schedule of movies for August:
August 7: Bullitt (1968)
High profile San Francisco Police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen) is asked personally by Walter Chalmers, who is in town to hold a U.S. Senate subcommittee hearing on organized crime, to guard Johnny Ross, a Chicago mobster about to turn evidence against the whole organization at the hearing.
August 14: Disney’s The Love Bug (1968)
Meet Jim Douglas, a down-on-his-luck race car driver who lives in an old run-down fire house in San Francisco with his friend Tennessee Steinmetz, a occasional drunk mechanic. One day, Jim goes to a luxury car dealer and surprisingly sees a strange Volkswagen Beetle with a unusual problem: it has its own mind and drives on its own!
August 21: The Pink Panther (1963)
Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) travels to Rome to catch a notorious jewel thief known as “The Phantom” before he conducts his most daring heist yet – a princess’ priceless diamond known as “The Pink Panther.”
August 28: Dr. No (1962)
British government agent James Bond (Sean Connery) seeks answers in a case involving the disappearance of a colleague and the disruption of the American Space Program in the very first James Bond film ever made.
