Christmas at the St. George Tabernacle

The St. George Tabernacle is celebrating the Christmas season all month long with a series of special guests and musical performances. Located in the heart of historic downtown St. George, (18 S. Main St.), the newly-remodeled Tabernacle building is home to all of Southern Utah's bounteous and vibrant history. All musical events are free and open to the public. Check out the complete list of this week's Christmas performances below. On That Holy Night – Dr. Nancy Allred & Friends Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Dr. Nancy Allred, pianist, professor of music and director of piano studies at Dixie State University will be joined by Dr. Ka-Wai Yu, cellist and assistant professor of music at DSU; Emily Workman, soprano, director of vocal studies at DSU; and KateLyn Syphus, an accomplished violinist and pianist. Selected Christmas anthems will inspire and uplift as we listen to an evening of Christmas favorites. Magical Christmas – Dick Barton Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. Who better to deliver a Magical Christmas than Dick Barton performing his musical magic on the piano? A well-known performer throughout Utah, Barton has entertained in every venue imaginable and has also released two CDs of music. Dick will once again display his unique talent in creating the mood and emotions of the Christmas season. Hurry Home For Christmas – Santa Clara Friends Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The “Santa Clara Friends” is a women’s vocal group that has been performing since 1998. Music gathers these women together from a variety of careers and family responsibilities.Their performance includes pop hits, music from Broadway, and of course the traditional carols of Christmas. Join the Santa Clara Friends in an evening of enjoyable entertainment in celebrating the season. Christmas at the Opera – St. George Opera Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. The St. George Opera is pleased to present a program of Christmas favorites both classical and contemporary. This is an evening to celebrate the Christmas season and feel the power of classically trained opera singers in the perfect setting of the St. George Tabernacle. Arise, Shine! – Lieto Voices Saturday, Dec. 14 at 12 p.m. For fifteen-plus years LietoVoices! has added a unique perspective to the local choral music scene. Robert Reimer, director of choirs at Pine View High School, and music educator Kris Barber, as assistant director, bring experience and skill to every performance. The choir's name “Lieto” is the Italian word for happy or glad. Their music will indeed please your ear and uplift your heart as they perform their Christmas concert in the historic Tabernacle with “happy and glad voices.” A Christmas Ensemble – Tennile Coello, John Miner & Aubrey Richardson Sunday, Dec. 15 @ 7 p.m. With bachelor and masters degrees in vocal performance Tennile has earned accolades for many performances, most recently as featured soloist with the Southwest Symphony. She is joined by Jon Miner, a man of many interests whose skills also extend to the cello. The pianist for this performance is Aubrey Richardson. She has studied piano and oboe at BYU-Idaho with extra training in piano accompanying. Together this Christmas ensemble will use music to bring the spirit of Christmas to all.
